IN CABO VERDE

Aircraft that flew in the skies of Cabo Verde

1954 - 16 Jan - Beginning of the adventure

The approval of the Statutes that would allow the start of aeronautical activity in Cape Verde was published.

Passenger demand quickly led the ACV to acquire in England, in 1956, a De Havilland DH-104 Dove, aircraft with registration CR-CAC.

1958

1958 - The End of the Adventure

Due to high expenses and the inability to respond to the volume of demand, a 17-seater Heron aircraft was also chartered, which proved to be very expensive.

The ACV had been going through financial difficulties for some time and it was then decided to end the aeronautical activities.

1958 - (December) - Creation of the national company TACV - Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde

Soon after, the TACV, Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde, was born on December 27, 1958, inheriting from the ACV aircraft, pilots and mechanics.

Flight operations began in January 1959.

1959

1959 - 22 Nov - Accident in S. Filipe of a third Dakota also provided by the FAP on the occasion of the removal to review of a Dove. This Dakota has been replaced by a four-seater Beech-Craft, which again proved insufficient, which led to acquisition of two more Dove aircraft - CR-CAL and CR-CAR.
